Annual horse show

horseshow2

There is an annual horse show at the Penang turfclub. Bus loads of school children went to the place with their teachers. Free van shuttle service was provided to the public. Even during the race time, crowds intending to visit the horse show are jostling with the gamblers to the same place.

Pardon me, no doubt many people see horse racing as a sport, I see it as gambling. Many people who can ill afford the extravagance of this ’sport’ flocked to this place every weekend, to bet their hard earned money. I had expressed my opinions in my personal blog before.

Clowns, pony rides, balloon sculpting, face painting, stage shows, snake show and many charity events are part of the attractions. I grumbled to my husband that though it seems like a fun and tame thing to do, I had the feeling that it reeks of ’something wrong’.

It is like introducing children and the public to a place called ‘gambling’ venue. In fact, it is my first time stepping foot in the turf club.

There are all sorts of horses, ponies and other breed of horses there. But I like this donkey best. It looks so calm and cool, standing there with the pointed ears.

Horse show running from Friday until today, Sunday 12.6.05. 10 am to 6pm. Usually, race time traffic starts around 2pm so it is not a good idea to clash with the traffic.

If want to gamble hor, don’t gamble horse lah. Gamble which blog will be the blog of the year. Can also.

But those horses are used to encounter human beings already. So they are very calm wan. Don’t worry. they won’t kick off any asses out there.

Hey there…interesting blog you have here! I took part in the Annual Horse Show this year; and actually I’m working with the Perak Turf Club Equestrian Centre…IMHO I think that the main aim of the Annual Horse Show is not to expose the public to the racing side [it doesn't really get my approval either!]; but rather to give them a chance to know these creatures better…

From what I observe; the Equestrian side is much more relaxed compared to the racing side; which only emphasizes the ‘win or else your time here is up’ attitude! Our equestrians are also taught to always put our equine friends first before ourselves; and I think that’s something that really makes them stand out in comparison!

Maybe you should come ride some time…!? :P
