Cannon ball tree

This is an extension from my other blog 5xmom. This plant is planted in 1938 which makes it a very, very old tree. The plant botanic name is couroupita guianensis or call cannon ball tree.

I found it so cute because the fruits hanging there looks like botak (bald) coconuts whilst the flowers look like the rafflesia. I had been to the Penang Botanical Gardens many times but never seen this plant in full bloom and fruiting.
