Chinese culture - colourful and full of meanings
The shopping malls barely have time to take down the Christmas decorations and now, they are putting up Chinese New Year decor. Red lanterns are going to be everywhere. The above is a photo taken a year back.
Chinese New Year is such an interesting festival. Compare to the others, it is one of the loudest with the lion dance cymbals, gongs and drums. It is one of the most colourful with red banners, red lanterns and red everywhere.
Even the buns have to come in the signature red and pink. The above is the mee koo or steamed wheat flour bun. It is a must have for all happy occassions like weddings, prayers and Chinese New Year.
These are the trinkets I bought for Chinese New Year a couple of years ago.
Now I am just waiting for the arrival of the Chinese pussy willows. It is normally imported from China.
Chinese pussy willow is these little brown twigs with little fluffy white flowers.
