Does energy bars give energy?

I know marathon runners bring with them on their long marathons. My husband also bring a few with him when he goes on the hiking expedition with his buddies. I asked him if energy bars really give energy? Can I take them in place of my breakfast when I am in a hurry to go out for my volunteer work?

He told me one doesn’t feel a burst of energy but merely to make one feel full. I have gone out a few times without breakfast and you know what? I can hear my stomach growling and rumbling when I was talking with the patients. Since I am standing up and they are lying down, all the more they can hear my tummy thundering sounds.

Maybe I should equip myself with some small protein bars for those mornings when I didn’t have time to grab a decent breakfast.

No wonder some of the patients whom have known me well asked every morning, “Have you taken your breakfast yet?” Probably they have heard my poor stomach going hungry. However, I hate the smell of vanillin normally found in some of the high protein bars. But these natural energy bars claim they don’t have artificial flavourings so it may be edible.
