German pork knuckle sandwich
Have you bought the roasted German pork knuckle from the delis before? Normally, I get them from Gurney Plaza, Cold Storage non-halal section. If you go just before noon, you may get those which are still hot and just fresh out of the oven.
It is actually pig’s leg which has been stripped of its fats and skin. Then, the leg is carefully seasoned and roasted till very, very tender and yet, not dried or stringy. They seasoned the meat so well, you can feel the flavorings throughout the whole leg. The above costs about RM14 which is rather cheap. It can feed our whole family.
If the German pork knuckle is cold, what you need to do is to microwave it for 1-2 minutes to heat it up. We slice them thinly to make sandwiches and also eat it as it is.
For photography purpose, I slapped on a slice a bread, some butter, two slices of meat and put some mayonnaise and mustard.
We also have some tomato soup to go with it to cut down the ‘jelak-ness’.
Previously, Mr. Ho’s Fine Food (which has closed down in Penang) served this with mashed potato and apple sauce as a main meal.
I have so little porky recipes or porky foods so this blog has been rather neglected. Do go to my other main food blog at Best Recipes if you want daily update.
