Lunas Roasted Duck

Lunas Roasted Duck is located in Kulim, Kedah. The shop is not very far from where my husband works and therefore, he occassionally buys them. I believe they have a branch here in Penang now and are selling frozen versions in the supermarkets. Previously, before they made it big, their roasted duck was delicious. Unfortunately, as with all expansion, the original taste seems to be missing.

However, one can still taste the duck that has been seasoned well and roasted till very thorough. It goes well with their porridge and also the sweet chilli sauce.

Other than ducks, they have soya eggs and taukua.

Plus this kiam chye boay. They do have a good crowd during lunch hours on weekend. I have been there only once.
Not a place I would recommend Penangites to travel for the food. But if you are in the neighbourhood, do try it out.

Haven’t eaten for a very long time. I remember few years back it was only RM16 for one whole bird. Real cheap compared to RM34 per bird (of some other supposedly famous brand) in KL petaling street.

Agree. It does not taste as good as it used to. Kulim is my hometown. I remember it taste super delicious long time ago. Tried yr Durian Butter Cake, friends and neighbours love it. The cake was moist and the durian super fragrant. Thanks!

try the rosted duck at Cannovan St, opposite “Sim” (the shop selling all the stuff your need for cakes and cookies). I hv tried a few locations around Penang including the one in Lunas and I think this one is the best and reasonably priced too.

Try duck rice beside Pulau Tikus police station during lunch time. Double boiled soup also available.
Or New Lane duck rice which is inside the kopitiam. Not the stall by the roadside.

Oh my, I was looking for this for quite sometime now. The last time I was there is 10 years ago.
Oh, you can try the goose rice in pudu. It has been there for 3 generations I think.

Im a local of Lunas.Years back when the duck was roasted by the original Mr Tan it was really nice. After the son took over about 15 years ago,the taste wasnt there anymore.I wouldnt recommend the Kiam Chye Boay bcos is not value for money. Its normally very ‘kosong’ with lots of ‘water but no filling’…hahaha useles you like to drink kiam chye boay soup…..!!!
