Pasta Carbonara no more
I used to prepare pasta carbonara in large quantities for the children’s gathering. Sometimes, I make enough pasta in cream sauce for 30 to 40 persons. However, now I cannot afford to anymore because the costs is too exhorbitant. I tried substituting the cream with milk but the taste is just not good enough for my liking.
The prices of whip cream has increased almost three folds, availability of bacons are getting less and what they have in Cold Storage are so expensive. Then, the price of cheeses as well as pastas too increase a lot.
Sometimes, I wonder if our Government do watch the price increases of these food ingredients or do they deem it too frivolous and never bother. You know…those are foods for the rich, so let them suffer? Hence, the importer simply increase the prices.
At home, I have also cooked less foods that involve imported food ingredients. Nowadays, my children only get to eat them like once a week and not every few days.
So, my poor darling looking like a starved child from a third country. Hahaha, it is also good to cut down on these fattening foods because he is getting chubby.
BTW, even Maggi mee’s price have increased to almost RM1 per packet. If I am not mistaken, it cost RM4.95 for a packet of five.
If you are looking for pasta recipes, you can find them all in my Best Recipe blog.
