They sure bring back early childhood memories. I used to frequent the New World Park during the 1960's and early 1970's. I remember there used to be a Globe and Lido cinema, and a couple of performing halls for Chinese opera, etc. And of course food stalls around. I'm glad Swatow Lane is given a new lease of life after the closure of NWP in the mid 70's? Left Penang for the UK in 1976, and sure feels nostalgic surfing your food haven pages. Thank you for the write ups and great photos of the dishes. I like your description of the "lansi" wan ton mee seller at Caunterhall flats. I used to live at Trengganu Road, and attend PFS. It's true, I've come across a lot of haughty hawker food sellers in Penang when their business are thriving and popular.
