Prawns, prawns and prawns
I was just clearing up the memory card of one of my camera and found these photos of prawns in all of them.
This is a plate of broccoli and peppers which I stir fried with shrimps. There are days when I must have something hot and spicy so I used some sambal belacan to crank up the taste.
This is a plate of large prawns stir fried with leeks and soya bean cake (teowchew taukua) which we had on Christmas day. My in-laws and my family had lunch at Goh Huat Seng, a very traditional steamboat restaurant. The meal wasn’t impressive and hence, I decided not to feature the place eventhough it is very popular in Penang. If you like leeks and taukua, always go for Ang Hoay Lor restaurant which makes a tastier dish.
And this is my brunch - breakfast cum lunch. Nasi lemak with tamarind prawns, sambal prawns and sambal ikan bilis. Best nasi lemak around. It is sold by this auntie who operates an economy rice stall in Jalan Jockey. Jalan Jockey has two good nasi lemak stalls now. This new one by the aunties is much better than the previous famous Jockey Road nasi lemak, try it!

This is simply wonderful - I’m reading this in New York. Have not been back in 21 years!! I’m sure you guys feel sorry for me (or will at least have the decency to pretend to be). Wonder what I’ll try to cook now.
