[...] Heh, I went to lunch alone and ate all the above, leaving clean plates. Anyway, there are only three prawns and six small gyozas so I am not that guilty. Trust me, it is less sinful than a huge bowl of udon with slices of Japanese fatty ham. Had that at Japin Noodle on the 3rd floor of Island Plaza.
Hi Lilian,

I stumbled onto this site because I was looking for (what else?) a good place to dine out while back in Penang.

For a place with a reputation for good food, it seems that there is scarcity of good restaurants in Penang. It seems Penangites do not rate ambience too highly and prefer value. Perhaps that's why some restaurants don't stay around too long and why street food is still very popular. Time Magazine had the same opinion voted it best in Asia.

But your site did reveal a number of places that I didn't know about as I am working in KL. And the photos are something to drool over! So for Penangites living outside Penang, maybe all of you could post some comments on the food you miss the most!

Regards,
KY Lim

The bowl of ramen looked nice. :) I've been to some jap restaurants who serves very big bowl of ramen too. :) But some hor, big bowl but little stuffs inside. May I know what's the semi-circle brownish kinda look thingy on the bowl of the ramen (on the right)? Some sort of braised egg or pork's skin? :P Just curious.
