“What are you doing for Christmas?”
My eldest sister-in-law phoned me yesterday with the most dreaded question. She wants to know if I am going to do something for Christmas. It is actually an honour because when my mother-in-law was alive, all my hubby’s siblings would gather at my place for the Chinese New Year meals. However, after I have converted to Christianity, I place less emphasis on Chinese New Year and didn’t make such elaborate meals.
So, in a way, I am glad that my hubby’s siblings are still depending on me to provide the venue for family gatherings. This year, I am not very keen to hold a Christmas party. Hubby will be in his new job and hence, he won’t be free to accompany me to get all the foodstuffs and help me to watch the children while I get busy cooking. Looking at the calendar, he will only be around on Christmas day. If I am going to do anything, it has to be Christmas eve because I have choir at church on Christmas day.
From now until Christmas, you are probably going to read about my rants and dilemma on not being able to provide a Christmas gathering. Poor me is going to get so many phone calls and questions from my four sisters-in-law. Yes, I have a huge in-laws entourage which come with the marriage. Sometimes, I wish they will leave me alone and get connected with me through online sites like this Family Websites whereby I won’t get surprise visits from the in-laws or phone calls to wake me up early in the morning. Just buzz me online, will you?
I know it is not very nice to say that about my in-laws but LOL, they do give nerve wrecking experiences to me.
So, what shall I do for Christmas? I really don’t know.
